Go Where The Music is Loud

A staple for me on my runs is my music. I am a key supporter of music while running. Sometimes I don’t even know how people run with out it (now..I have had my fair share of runs without music with friends).

I’ve been struggling because (and we all need to be honest here) I have downloaded music for free using Napster…and then Kazaa…and then Limewire, etc.  and added it to my iPod shuffle and always had fun and new music to run to. Actually, my wonderful friends played a terrible joke on me about downloading music which is why I stopped completely and have been paying for every song (or listening to Pandora on my runs).

I ran into a new service called Run Hundred a free music blog with more than 40,000 submissions for running music suggestions. Every month they send a newsletter of their top ten songs of the month. Although you have to purchase the songs, they are great songs with the beats available for your counts. It’s perfect and VERY easy to use!

Here’s their top ten from this month:

  • Wiz Khalifa – Work Hard, Play Hard – 70 BPM
  • Waka Flocka Flame, Nicki Minaj, Tyga & Flo Rida – Get Low – 125 BPM
  • Nero – Promises – 144 BPM
  • The Pretty Black Chains – Ambulance – 153 BPM
  • Matchbox Twenty – She’s So Mean – 120 BPM
  • Juan Magan – Bailando Por Ahi – 131 BPM
  • Russell Brand & Catherine Zeta-Jones – We Built This City / We’re Not Gonna Take It – 143 BPM
  • One Direction – One Thing – 127 BPM
  • Justin Bieber & Ludacris – All Around the World – 130 BPM
  • Rihanna – Where Have You Been – 128 BPM

I actually downloaded the following songs to run to for July and plan to use this every month to change up my running music too:

  • Nero – Promises – 144 BPM
  • The Pretty Black Chains – Ambulance – 153 BPM
  • Matchbox Twenty – She’s So Mean – 120 BPM
  • One Direction – One Thing – 127 BPM
  • Justin Bieber & Ludacris – All Around the World – 130 BPM
  • Rihanna – Where Have You Been – 128 BPM
