She did a cool Question series which I figured I would try out…it’s fun anyway.
Why did you start running?
After losing 20 pounds, I hit a plateau. My best friend suggested going for a run. When I was a kid we had these things called Mile Days. I HATED them. I was always embarrassed I was so out of shape and would finish last. When I went out for that first run, I realized I could do anything I put my mind to. I’ll never forget the route off of 901 Place. And I’ve never looked back.
Best Running Memory?
See above…I had signed up for a 5k with my very good friend Kristin. My two friends Brandon and Jeff ran us to the finish line to hit our goal, Brandon was barefoot and drinking a beer, I was so nervous I was throwing up…Kristin was booking it. Glorious story but it ended up in Erin crying at the end.. a good cry. (Sorry Erin, it’s my favorite memory).
What shoes do you run in?
Brooks Adrenaline. Literally 3 years and will NOT change the love I have for them.
Favorite and Least Favorite distances to run?
9 Miles, it’s not even. I know this is weird….favorite would be 6. It’s even.
Do you have a running partner?
No, I miss my running partner Kristin though! However I do love a nice run by myself to clear my thoughts..AND I do love running with Erin, her long legs push me.
What is your favorite running accessory?
Hehe…I just purchased the Garmin Forerunner. Thanks to Matt Newsom. It is ah-mazing.
Outdoor or indoor running?
Outdoor. I don’t care if it’s 20 degrees, running on a treadmill gives me a mental block where I can’t finish 4 miles on that thing.
What is your favorite time of the day to run?
Morning..but I need coffee, so this usually doesn’t happen until the afternoon. I’m actually obsessed with my weekend runs.
What races have you run?
Lots! I love family 5k’s and good causes..see here for my list. Half Marathons: Charlotte Thunder Road 2011, Atlantic City Half 2012
What is the hottest or coldest weather you have ever ran in?
I will NEVER forget a 5k that Kristin and I ran in, Friday night Twlight 5k in uptown Charlotte. It was a boiling 101 degrees at 6PM, I don’t think I remember finishing it was so hot.
Other exercises you love?
Jillian Michaels Hot Bod in A Box Circuit workouts. I LOVE them. If you don’t have the box, it’s a cheap purchase and well worth it.
Are you currently training for something?
Nike DC Women’s Half !!!!
What are your current or future goals?
1- 2:00 Half Marathon
2- Be more confident
3- Make a difference (I know..it’s cheesy)
Advice for new runners?
Take it slow and set a goal. Sign up for a 5k. They are a lot of fun and a good goal! Just sign up!
Why did you start a blog?
I was finally proud of my health. I want people to feel the way I do and hopefully start their own healthy journeys.
