I’m joining the cliche crowd and talking about organizing and a “new you” for 2014.
To be honest, financials and financial planning give me the chills. (I know there is are ladies out there who agree with me on this one!) It’s overwhelming and a constant battle to keep up with your expenses…let alone keep in front of it.
I’ve found a great resource which has really helped me and….it’s FREE!
Mint.com is website managed by Intuit. In summary, they connect to all of your credit cards, student loans, investment accounts, checking and savings accounts and summarize your transactions to summarize your spending habits. Did I mention it does this automatically? It reads your transactions and then summarizes them to find your coffee habits to your bar vs. restaurant habits. 🙂
It also includes a great app, which has become a great resource for me. I haven’t done much with the goals but the tracking has been very helpful. It’s nice to have reminders sent to you on different bills coming up too.
The best part about Mint is that it’s very flexible to how much or how little you’d like to look at your expenses, bill reminders, etc. I summed it up to a friend as a mini website for all of your financial needs.
Mint.com is also very secure. They have an entire encrypted key on your account to ensure all of your data is safe and secure. (I promise..I am a tech nerd and I trust them!)
One note, be careful with the credit score requests and some of the optional “decrease debt” messages. Some are promotional messages which would include a payment. (They do have to make money somehow to manage this tool!)
Check it out! http://www.mint.com
